
Daringbadi: In a tragic incident, as many as eight people died including women and children were killed while over 35 others sustained critical injuries after the mini truck they were traveling in overturned and plunged into a gorge near Brahmanigaon under this police limits in Kandhamal district, Tuesday morning.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Death toll is likely to climb up as many other have been critically injured, reports said.
Reportedly, the incident occurred when the mini truck, carrying over 40 passengers was en route to Brahmanigaon from Kalingi. The vehicle skidded off Poiguda ghat after the driver lost control over the wheels.
While four persons were killed on the spot, three others succumbed to injuries while they were being rushed to hospital. All the injured persons have been rushed to Brahmanigaon hospital and MKCG hospital in Berhampur.
On intimations, cops along with a rescue team reached the spot and recovered the bodies. Over 30 people were rushed to Brahmanigaon hospital and MKCG hospital in Berhampur, and are currently undergoing treatment.
